Overview

UpToDate Anywhere is a clinical support tool including more than 10,500 topics covering general internal medicine and more than 22 specialties; a select drug database and drug interaction tool; nearly 1,500 patient education topics; more than 28,000 graphics; and links to more than 400,000 references. Access is available via the Clinical Information Access Portal.

Please note that some of the help links below may only work when UpToDate Anywhere has been opened in your browser or by logging in using your login credentials (see the Access section below for instructions.)

Access using a hospital desktop computer, corporate mobile or device connected to the VPN (Virtual Private Network)

You can access UpToDate Anywhere using a hospital desktop computer, corporate mobile or a device connected to the VPN using a secure ID by going to CIAP then selecting UpToDate.

Access using a device without connecting to the VPN

To access this resource using a device without connecting to the VPN such as your home computer or personal phone without connecting to the VPN go to CIAP, select Log in on the top right hand corner of the page, then login with your stafflink login.

Access using the App

To be able to use the App you will need an UpToDate login. Follow the instructions above to access UpToDate then select Register on the top right of the page to create a login. 

For mobile access, download the app entitled “UpToDate”, then login using your login and password

Login to UpToDate Anywhere every 90 days to maintain your access. You will be sent an email to remind you

Can I access UpToDate app on more than one device? UpToDate provides access to the mobile app on 2 devices.

How do I claim CME/CP/CPD credits on UpToDate?

UpToDate offers CME/CP/CPD credit for online learning which is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME).

Make sure you login to your account (see instructions above to register) when using UpToDate to track your usage. Then when you want to view or redeem your credits select CME on the top right hand corner. You may need to change the accreditation credit type using the options available.

How to cite an Up To Date Topic or Chapter?

UptoDate recommends that you cite the UpToDate topic as a chapter in a book titled UpToDate. There are no page numbers to cite, and the publication year for any topic should be the current year.
