Research is a waste of time and effort if no-one reads or responds to it so it is important to promote your work. It will also help you get funding for your next project if you can demonstrate the impact of your research. The following tools can also help you establish your research profile.
Research impact can be measured in a various ways.
Academia is another platform for sharing academic research. You can create a free or premium profile. Use it to track who reads your uploaded papers and as a networking tool. It also includes information about grants. As with ResearchGate you should not upload publications if you do not have copyight permission to do so.
Altmetric data includes online mentions and sharing in sites such as Twitter, Reddit and reference management tools like Mendeley and CiteULike

Google Scholar is widely used and you can very easily create a personal Google Scholar profile for yourself and link all your publications. You will be alerted when anyone cites your papers. You can also see citation statistics. The following is a snapshot of Dr Anthony Fauci's Google Scholar profile. TIP: use a personal email so you don't have problems if you change jobs.
Mendeley is a free reference manager and academic social network that can help you to organise your research, collaborate with others online and discover the latest research. It is an Elsevier product.
Registering with ORCID gives you a persistent digital identifier (an ORCID ID) that distinguishers you from every other researcher even if you change your name or where you work. You can provide it to your journal publisher so that all your research publications are linked to you. Please note that you can list more than one current affiliation so if you can list Westmead Hospital, WSLHD and any University associations.
Publons is a researcher profile from Web of Science (replacing ResearcherID). It allows you to track your publications,citation metrics, peer reviews and journal editing work in one place. It can be linked with your ORCID ID.
ResearchGate is a popular online collaboration site for researchers. You can use it to find publications, projects and collaborators and join discussions. You can create a research profile and track how many people access information about you or follow you. You could also upload your own publications but should only do this when you have copyright permission to upload.
